You believe in yourself as an artist (or writer, musician, performer, designer, etc.).

Sure, you struggle with self-doubt like anyone else, but if you’re really honest with yourself, you know you’re capable of making the kind of art that will lead to a successful career – it’s just a matter of when.

In fact, you can actually see yourself holding your published novel in your hands, or attending the opening night of your solo exhibition, or performing to a packed room.

And this vision of your future used to feel so certain. You knew it was only a matter of time – of doing the work, putting up with your day job, and staying the course.

But now, you’re too exhausted to even write a single word, make a single mark on canvas or play a single note.

Stop burnout getting between you and your creative dreams.

Burnout has you so firmly in its grasp that you no longer seem able to create.

Of course, you try to summon the energy to drag yourself to your work, but even when you manage that, you almost never actually create.

In fact, it feels like the more you try to make yourself create, the less able you are to get up off the couch.

And as time goes by, that shining vision of success slips further and further away. And your day job, which was only supposed to be temporary, starts to look more and more like a life sentence.

It’s so $^(*ing frustrating! ALL you want to do is create the art that’s going to get you to where you know you could go – if you could only have your energy back!

And it’s not like you haven’t tried to fix this; you have. You’ve taken time off from your art, thinking you would come back refreshed, but that didn’t happen.

You’ve also done your research: you’ve read a bunch of articles, listened to several podcast episodes and saved a ton of social posts about creative burnout (including some of mine).

And although you understand what needs to happen for you to recover, your nervous system is too depleted to actually allow you to do it.

For instance, you know you need to rest more, and that doomscrolling doesn’t count. Yet somehow, you always end up on the couch, lost in your phone, feeling frustrated with yourself and guilty for not using the time better.

You also know you need to reduce your stress, but how are you supposed to do that when your plate is too full, the world is on fire, and you can’t seem to do the ONE thing you really want to do with your life – create??

And as for letting go of perfectionism and being kinder to yourself? Forget it – you wouldn’t even know where to start.

The thing is, you’re exhausted. It takes so much energy just to psych yourself up to even try one small thing for your burnout.

Actually sustaining it? Another thing entirely.

So, most of the time, you do nothing about your burnout.

And that’s how weeks, months, years go by without you creating.

Creative, you’ve already tried to figure this out on your own. That’s what’s kept you stuck and unable to create.

What you need now is expert, personalised guidance to rebuild your creative energy from the inside out.

That’s exactly what I provide, and what gets my clients out of burnout and creating again, even if it’s been months or years.

It’s time to get unstuck.

“Gauri’s work with me led to a short story being published and a 55,000 word draft of a book.”

“Gauri’s work with me has led to a short story being published in an international anthology. Oh yeah, and a 55,0000-word first draft of a book. Not bad for a year’s effort.

I highly recommend Gauri’s coaching, which is so gentle, thoughtful and impactful.”

In Renew, a 6-month 1:1 coaching container, we will work together to get you creating regularly within the first 2 weeks*

We will…

  • restore your energy by mapping the quickest way out of burnout for you – no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach that doesn’t fit you

  • build a no-stress creative practice you can stick to long-term without burning yourself out more

  • identify your burnout warning signs, so you can take action to prevent burnout

*While it is highly likely that you will create again within the first two weeks of our work together, everyone is different, so I can’t guarantee these (or any other) results.

Want to know why you can’t get yourself out of burnout?

It’s got nothing to do with willpower or motivation; it’s because you’re too burnt out to get yourself out of burnout.

As you know, a burnt out nervous system is very low on energy, with limited capacity to make more energy for you.

And, trying to get yourself out of burnout takes a TON of energy.

Of course, making changes to the way you care for yourself – a requirement of burnout recovery – takes energy and effort.

But it also takes energy (and expertise!) to understand how burnout has rewired your nervous system, identify exactly what’s needed in your case to recover in the quickest, easiest way possible, and then actually sustain these changes long enough to impact your nervous system.

All of that is a VERY tall order when you’re burnt out.

And that’s why most creatives who try to DIY their way out of burnout stay stuck and unable to create for months or years longer than they need to.

Plus, the advice available online is not tailored to you. It often assumes you have more time and energy than you actually do, fails to take into account your unique struggles as a creative, or just doesn’t really fit your needs.

Here’s the thing: trying to recover from burnout by yourself using general advice is like trying to find your way out of a desert using a map of a different desert.

Sure, you might feel like you know the way out, and occasionally, you may successfully make it out through trial and error.

But – more likely – you’ll just wander in circles until you’re too depleted to continue.

What you need is someone who’s already made it out of the desert and who knows how to design a map that works for you.

That’s what I do for my clients, and it’s why they get back to their art, fast.

So, don’t stay stuck in the desert and lose another month or year of your art to burnout.

Instead, let me make that map for you and walk you out of burnout, once and for all.

Hi, I’m Gauri, and I burnt out in 2017.

It was after a very intense year of working 14–16 hour days as a naturopath and solo business owner, trying to grow my clinical practice.

I loved what I did – particularly holding space for people and helping them understand how to work with their bodies and nervous systems.

And I loved seeing them get better. That’s what kept me in it for four years.

But as I cared for others, my own health got worse.

Running a clinical practice was all-consuming and began to take its toll on me – physically, mentally, and emotionally.

As you can imagine, I didn’t write a word in those four years. My dreams of being a published fiction author gathered dust.

Eventually, I burnt out completely and had to close my practice.

I would love to say that I immediately started the work of getting myself out of burnout, but that’s not what happened.

Instead, I spent a whole year in deep denial, unable to do much more than wish I had it in me to write even a word while I sat in front of the TV like a zombie.

In fact, it was a good couple of years before I started taking my burnout seriously and gave myself the care I needed to get back to my first love – writing.

And that’s how I cost myself two whole years of my writing life, by denying I was burnt out and refusing to seek help to recover.

What can I say? I’m slower and more stubborn than most.

But, as I got back to writing and began to interact with the creative community again, I was amazed to find that burnout was an extremely common experience.

I was even more amazed to find that creative coaches approached it as purely a mindset issue, not the complex, mind-body issue that it is.

So, I began helping burnt out creatives return to their art, using what I know about chronic stress, burnout and the nervous system from my time working as a naturopath.

And for the last four years, it’s been my mission to help creatives get back to their art.

Here are some ways we might get you out of burnout and back to creating

  • Work with your nervous system to ‘switch on’ its ability to restore your energy

  • Implement gentler, kinder ways to create that won’t burn you out

  • Refine the way you rest your body and mind so you can fully restore your energy

  • Support you to incorporate movement that’s appropriate for your capacity and accessibility needs

  • Gently stretch the amount you can create, without exhausting yourself

In Renew, you will never fall behind or be overwhelmed with information.

We will…

  • move at your pace – everything we’ll do is designed for a depleted nervous system, so you’ll never be pressured to move faster than you’re ready for

  • only discuss what you need to know to take the very next baby step – no information overload

  • adjust our approach whenever needed, to accommodate any changes in your life and your capacity

Renew is the program I needed when I was burnt out, and it’s what most creatives need to keep burnout from stealing another year of their art.

The details

Renew is a 6-month (24-week) private coaching program.

It includes

  • 12 x 50-minute one-on-one coaching calls with me

  • Unlimited support via Slack (text and voice messaging) between calls (I respond to messages within 2 business days)

We will have one call every two weeks to keep you feeling motivated and supported, while giving you enough time to implement changes between calls.

Calls will take place via Zoom at a time that works for us both.

Exactly what will happen during the calls will differ depending on individual needs, but most of our calls will follow this general structure:

1. Catch-up: We check in about how the last two weeks have been for you and how you went with the tiny action(s) we decided on last time.

2. Discuss: We talk through some aspect of gentle creating or nervous system care that’s relevant to you and/or a barrier that you’re bumping up against (e.g. procrastination, perfectionism, your inner critic).

3. Next action: We decide on the next tiny action(s) you can take to get you further out of burnout.

4. Q&A: I’ll answer any questions you have (and you can always send questions through Slack between appointments!).

Fee

Payment plans start at US $332.83/month for a total of US $1,997.

To make sure everyone gets the level of support they need, places in Renew are strictly limited.

Refund policy

I offer a 7-day cooling-off period: if you change your mind about Renew for any reason within the first 7 days of your payment, I will provide you with a complete refund (less an administration fee).

Frequently asked questions

When will our calls be?

I have availability on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (which may be Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in your time zone), with appointment times to suit most time zones.

If these days don’t suit you, apply anyway and we will find a time that works for both of us.

When do we start?

Once your application is accepted and you’ve paid the fee (or the first instalment of your payment plan), I’ll send you a link to book your appointments and we’ll go from there!

Do you offer payment plans and scholarships?

Making Renew financially accessible is very important to me. I offer payment plans free of surcharges to anyone who needs them. Unfortunately, I’m unable to offer scholarships for Renew at this time.

I’m not totally unable to create, but burnout is keeping me from creating as much as I would like. Is this program for me?

Yes! My approach to burnout recovery will work equally well for people who can still create and people who can’t.

I’m SUPER busy at the moment, but I’m keen to finally get out of burnout and back to creating. Is Renew for me?
